Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

To get started or to learn more about my services, contact me and we can schedule a free 15-minute consultation to gather more information about your interests and needs.

What is it like seeing a psychologist?

Almost every therapeutic relationship is different so the feel of sessions may vary, but it will start with an intake session. I consider intake sessions to be the world’s worst first impression because we will go over policies and I will ask you a lot of different questions about your history, symptoms, and goals to develop a treatment plan. Throughout the process, I want you to feel comfortable to ask me questions about my approach and to collaborate on what would be most helpful for you. As we begin to work together, I will always emphasize that we are on the same team in reaching your goals. I describe myself as an experimenter in session, so if interventions or tools are not feeling helpful, then I would love to know why it doesn’t fit and how we can adjust moving forward.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

I do not offer in person sessions at this time. I provide virtual services using a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. I am able to virtually see clients in most states. At this time, I am unable to see clients who are located in Alaska, Guam, Iowa, Hawaii, Louisiana, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, New York, and Massachusetts.

What therapies do you provide?

I provide individual psychotherapy and sport and performance psychology services. I emphasize the use of evidence-based theories and techniques while also curating services to best fit each individual client. I focus on developing a strong working relationship with my clients, so sessions may focus on how we work best as a team. I have training in various cognitive-behavioral therapies as well as interpersonal approaches, but most often gravitate towards Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as my main approach.

What are your fees?

I charge $200 per 50-minute session. I am also able to provide prorated fees for shorter sessions (e.g, 30-minute) and can offer a sliding scale to offer a reduced rate based on your income. If you miss your appointment or cancel without at least a 24 hours notice, you will be charged with a $150 late fee.

Do you take insurance?

I do not accept insurance at the current time. If you would like to utilize your benefits, you will be able to use me as an Out-Of-Network Provider and I can provide you with a monthly invoice of the services provided in the form of a Super Bill. You can submit the Super Bill to your insurance provider in order to be reimbursed for a portion of the fees. As an example, an insurance provider may offer 50% reimbursement after you cover the $500 Out-Of-Network deductible. So after you first pay $500 out of your own pocket, your insurance company will begin reimbursing services. At my rate of $200 per session, you will actually have to only pay $100 and your insurance company will cover the other portion. Given that every insurance provider is different and offers different plans, I am not able to provide a good estimate of what you may be required to pay. You may find that information in your plan’s Summary of Benefits or by calling your insurance provider.

Do you see minors?

At the current time, I will only provide services to individuals ages 15 or older.
